What is a "gadget"?
A 'gadget' is a mini-application you can have on your Qwest.Live.com home page. Gadgets can display news headlines, weather, stock quotes or other useful information that you can customize to your interests.
With your Qwest.Live.com home page, you can bring all of your favorite parts of the Web together in one place through a collection of gadgets.
How do I know which gadgets are certified?
There are many gadgets to choose from within the Qwest.Live.com experience. All gadgets located in the Add content directory, including Qwest gadgets, have been certified by Microsoft®, whereas gadgets located in the Windows Live Gallery have been developed independently and have not been certified by Microsoft. You'll know it's a Qwest gadget if you see the "Powered by Qwest" brand stamp in the lower right corner of the gadget.
Remember, not all gadgets have been certified. When adding gadgets from Windows Live Gallery, you will see the following message:
"This 3rd party gadget has not been reviewed by Microsoft. It could potentially access data in another 3rd party gadget, include code that is possibly unsafe and may change behavior at any time. Do you trust this site and want to install this gadget?"
You should exercise caution and judgment as you would when you download software from the Internet.
For which gadgets does Qwest provide technical support?
Qwest provides technical support only for gadgets that say "Powered by Qwest" (with a Qwest logo) in the lower right corner of the gadget.
Which type of gadgets can I add to my Qwest.Live.com page?
There are a few different types of gadgets, however, only Web gadgets, can be added to your Qwest.Live.com pages. Web gadgets can be found by selecting Add content in the top left of your page or by visiting the Windows Live Gallery.
Other types of gadgets include:

What are RSS feeds and how do I add them to Qwest.Live.com?
RSS Web feeds show you frequently updated content from multiple sources on your Qwest.Live.com home page. RSS feeds are available for news stories, blogs or even the latest travel deals from your city.
To search for feeds:
- Select Add content in the top left of Qwest.Live.com
- Select Advanced options
- Type keywords in the search field or type a URL of a feed
- When you see a feed you want, select Add to Live.com
Note: The Feeds button located on the command bar-will not add a feed to your Qwest.Live.com page. Instead, it will add the feed to the Favorites menu of Internet Explorer 8.
How do I drag and drop to move my gadgets?
You can rearrange gadgets on your page, or even copy a gadget to another page using drag and drop. Moving a gadget to a new location on your page is as easy as click, drag and drop. To move a gadget, simply click the gadget name or icon (e.g. News, Weather), drag it to the new location and release the mouse. You may also move a gadget onto a new page. To do this, just drag and drop the gadget onto the tab of the new page. The gadget will now appear on both pages.
Note: Some gadgets have components inside that can be rearranged within the gadget using drag and drop. For example, you can use drag and drop to change the display order of cities in the weather gadget, or news categories in the news gadget.
My page is getting crowded. How can I better organize my gadgets?
There are a few ways you can organize gadgets and make them easier to view:
- Rearrange your gadgets. If your gadgets are not in the locations you want, use drag and drop to move gadgets around on the page.
- Increase the number of columns on a page. If your page is in a two-column layout, try a three- or four-column layout to see more gadgets on a page. Simply choose "3 or 4 columns" from the Options menu. Then drag and drop your gadgets into the new column(s).
- Add new pages. You are not limited to one page to house all your gadgets; add one or more new pages and organize your gadgets across those pages. Just click Add a page next to the Home tab, then drag and drop gadgets from your existing page to the tab of the new page. The gadgets are then copied to the new page.
- Minimize gadgets. Click on the collapse arrow to hide the details of a gadget. When collapsed, only the gadget's header is displayed and you'll have more space to view other gadgets.
How do I get a gadget I removed back on my page?
If you removed a gadget and want to add it to your page, select Add content in the top left of your page, then My content. Choose the gadget you want in the list, select Add in the bottom right and the gadget will reappear in the upper left corner of your Home page.
What is 'Screen reader mode'?
Screen reader mode makes Qwest.Live.com work better with software that reads Web pages aloud. This option may be preferable for those with visual disabilities.
What does "not available" mean in my gadget?
Sometimes the information that a gadget uses to display its content is unavailable. This is usually a temporary condition and will correct itself automatically when the information is available.
Why can't I remove some of my gadgets?
Most gadgets can be deleted from a page by clicking on the X in the upper-right corner of the gadget. However, to ensure that the valuable information provided by the News and Weather gadgets remains available to all users of Qwest.Live.com, those two Home page gadgets have no X. You can, however, drag and drop these gadgets to a different location on your home page.

How much storage space do I get?
Windows Live Hotmail from Qwest now has ever-growing storage to provide you with as much storage space as you need, provided that you send
and receive a normal amount of e-mail. Your inbox capacity will automatically increase as you need more space.
Is there a limit to the size of files that I attach to my e-mail?
10MB is the maximum file size you can attach to an e-mail message.
Can I get more than 11 e-mail addresses?
Your Qwest High-Speed Internet subscription with Windows Live includes up to 11 e-mail
addresses (1 primary, 10 secondary). If you need more than 11, you can get
additional Windows Live e-mail addresses. However, these addresses cannot use
the @q.com domain and will not be associated with your Qwest� High-Speed Internet
subscription. To get one, first make sure you're signed out of Windows Live
(e.g., visit http://go.qwest.com/home and make sure it says "Sign in" at
the top right), then visit http://go.qwest.com/signup to create a new Windows Live e-mail
address.
Can I receive mail from other e-mail accounts in Windows Live Hotmail from Qwest?
You may be able to receive mail from another e-mail account in Windows Live Hotmail from Qwest, depending on the features of your other e-mail account.
If your other e-mail account offers POP3 access, you can configure Windows Live Hotmail to receive mail from that POP3 account. Many e-mail services offer POP3 access, including Gmail and the paid version of Yahoo! Mail. If your other e-mail account does not offer POP3 access, it may provide an option to automatically forward mail to another e-mail address, such as your Windows Live from Qwest e-mail address.
For instructions, go to your Windows Live Hotmail Inbox, click on the blue circle with a white question mark near the top right, select Help, then search in the online help for "receive mail from other".
Can I use my own e-mail domain name instead of @q.com, @msn.com or @hotmail.com?
Windows Live Hotmail from Qwest offers options to send and receive mail from other e-mail accounts. To access these options, go to the Mail gadget, select any e-mail to go to Windows Live Hotmail, then click on Options in the top right, and More options.
Check with your domain registrar to see whether your e-mail domain can be forwarded to your Windows Live from Qwest email account.
If I have an existing MSN or Hotmail account, can I continue to use it?
Yes, you can continue to use your existing hotmail.com or msn.com account without interruption. Qwest High-Speed Internet with Windows Live customers can have up to 11 e-mail accounts (1 primary, 10 secondary).
Can I make my new q.com e-mail address my primary account?
No, it is not yet possible to change a secondary account (i.e. yourname@q.com) to be your primary account. Qwest and Microsoft are working on a solution for this.

If the OneCare icon is on your Windows taskbar, then it's installed on your computer. The icon may be green, yellow, or red to identify the health status of your PC.
Can I have OneCare and another security program such as Norton or McAfee installed at the same time?
No. Before you set up Windows Live OneCare from Qwest, please make sure you completely uninstall any existing anti-virus or firewall program that may be on your computer. This is important no matter what protection software you use, because installing one anti-virus or firewall program over another on the same computer could potentially lock up the computer. (To avoid putting your computer at risk, do not remove pre-existing anti-virus or firewall software until you are ready to install Windows Live OneCare from Qwest.)
